Peachy
Winter term is a hard one. The courses seem harder, the weeks feel longer, and the sky is definitely a lot darker. Alone, each element is manageable, but together, it can make for a “blah” feeling. Since there are seven weeks to go, I’ve compiled a list of ways to combat the “blah.”
Give yourself more time. This is a big one: school is important, and if you’ve committed to a class, you need to put in the hours. The urge to procrastinate is always strong, but procrastinating during the blah period can be disastrous. Give yourself ample time to get the work done, you’ll feel less overwhelmed and more in control.
Get outside. I know the weather is lousy, but sometimes, fresh air is the best way to get a boost. One of the bonuses of winter is the arrival of snow. SOU is really close to Mt. Ashland, and even if you can’t ski or ride, you can still sled or goof around in the snow. Lithia Park is a one-way ticket to a beautiful backdrop. Treat yourself.
Have fun. I know everyone is busy, and our lives are crazy and overscheduled, but if you can, schedule some fun in. Everyone has a different idea of fun, so pick yours and give yourself a break for a least an hour each day. Do one nice thing specifically for yourself.
Good luck against the blah! T-minus seven weeks and counting….
