Since it opened last year Hana Sushi has been pushing cross-town rivals Bonsai for top sushi restaurant honors. Its prime location downtown near Lithia Park makes it an easy stop for anyone browsing the streets for some Asian cuisine. Raider Softball Season Ends Against Corban

Southern Oregon University’s softball team dropped a heartbreaking 2-1 decision to Corban this past Friday in the first game of the Cascade Conference Postseason Tournament in Portland. SOU saw its season end with a 16-23 overall record. Corban went on to defeat fourth-ranked Concordia in the first game of a best two-out-of-three series to decide the conference’s automatic berth to the NAIA National Tournament. Full story

Southern Oregon University’s softball team kept Cascade Conference postseason tournament dreams alive with a split with fourth-ranked Concordia today in Portland. Concordia (30-4, 19-3) quickly won the first game today 9-0 and with the playoffs on the line, the Raiders (16-22, 12-12) came back to win the second game 5-3. Full story

SOU Football Team Squares Off In Annual Spring Game, Ready for ‘10-'11

After a month of rigorous practice drills, it all led up to a 20-7 victory for the black squad in SOU’s spring football game over the white squad Friday night. The pace was set early as two plays into the game, transfer running back Marshawn Friloux’s 58-yard run made the score seven to nothing in favor of the black squad. Full story

Track Claim NAIA Berths At Pacific

Southern Oregon University freshman Holly Haga uncorked a career-best throw and earned an NAIA Automatic Qualifying mark at the Pacific Invitational this past saturday in Forest Grove. Haga finished third in the discus with a throw of 140-10. Her first throw over 140 feet of her collegiate career. Full story

California takes Title at Oregon/California Border Challenge, SOU Continues Strong Performances

A solid effort by Southern Oregon University’s distance runners and a pair of victories by Seth Lindquist helped lead the Raiders this past Saturday at the Oregon/California Border Challenge at Arcata, Calif. Overall, the California team of Humboldt State and Chico State defeated the Oregon squad of Southern Oregon and Oregon Tech, 206. Full story

It was a good day for Southern Oregon University softball offense on a sunny Saturday afternoon. With a combined 48 hits between the two, the Raiders split this past weekend’s double header with Corban College. Southern Oregon won the first game 8-6, but Corban played strong in the second to grab a 9-7 victory over the Raiders. Full story

Track Solid In Davis

Southern Oregon’s Dennis Olstedt earned an NAIA Provisional mark in the 400 hurdles this past Saturday at the Woody Wilson Invitational at U.C. Davis Olstedt finished fourth in the event with a time of 55.27 to earn his provisional mark. Olstedt also finished seventh in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15. Full story

Levi Roudebush

As a fourth-year member of the Southern Oregon Track and Field team, senior Levi Roudebush has been one of the most impressive performers for the Raiders this year. Competing in the 1500 meter and 800 meter events, Roudebush recently booked his place to compete in the NAIA National Championships for Track and Field later this year. Full story

Southern Oregon University’s softball team was busy early this last week hosting a doubleheader against conference rival Oregon Tech on Apr. 6. The match ended up split with Southern Oregon claiming the first victory 3-2. Oregon Tech had its revenge the next game defeating the Raiders 6-2. Full story

The College of Idaho swept a key Cascade Conference doubleheader from Southern Oregon, 7-2, 7-3, this past Friday in Caldwell, Idaho. The Coyotes improved to 9-9 overall and 6-4 in conference play. Southern Oregon dropped to 9-17 overall and 5-7 in conference action. Full story

Raider Lacrosse Thrashes Willamette

The 23rd ranked Southern Oregon Lacrosse team stepped it up in a big way on Easter, punching the first ticket into the 2010 PNCLL playoffs by besting division rival Willamette University 10-0. From whistle to whistle, the Raiders dominated every possible aspect of the game against the Bearcats and never allowed their opponents any chance of leaving with a win. Full story

Raiders Defeat Azusa Pacific, Fall To Concordia-Irvine

The Raiders of Southern Oregon split their double-header this past Friday as they managed to top Azusa Pacific 6-4 but were defeated 6-5 by No. 11 Concordia-Irvine later in the day. The Southern Oregon women used a 25-8 start to the second half and rolled past Warner Pacific 68-55 in the opening round of the Cascade Conference Postseason Tournament this past Tuesday in Portland. Simpson Grabs Win Over Raiders

The Southern Oregon softball team stayed winless in the preseason as they dropped a pair of games at Simpson University this past Saturday in Redding. Wrestling Continues Run With Western Team Title

Three Individual Titles For Southern Oregon

The sixth-ranked Southern Oregon wrestling team scored its second straight team title NAIA West Qualifying Tournament this past Saturday in Havre, Mont. The Raiders finished with 152 teams points to best second-ranked Great Falls’ 134.5 points. Southern Oregon came away with three individual championships and four runner-up finishes. Full story

Lacrosse Rolls Past Humboldt State

The No. 12 Raiders flexed some muscle this past Saturday, crushing Humboldt State 23-5. This game marked Southern Oregon’s first game against Division II teams, in which they made a clear statement Leading the offense were seniors Bubba Van Egdom with eight goals and three assists; Tyler Baumann with three goals and four assists; freshman Tom Halley and junior Lump McQuown with two goals and two assists. Raider Women Brush Past Concordia

The Southern Oregon women’s basketball team rolled to an 80-68 victory over Concordia this past Saturday in Portland and wrapped up the No. 7 spot in next week’s Cascade Conference Postseason Tournament. Warner Defeats SOU Men

The Southern Oregon men played even with 20th-ranked Warner Pacific for almost 30 minutes before the Knights pulled away for an 83-66 victory Friday in Portland. OIT Rises To Defeat Raiders

Oregon Tech head coach and Southern Oregon University alum and Hall of Famer Dan Miles scored his 900th career victory as Oregon Tech scored a 101-76 victory over the Raiders this past Saturday in Klamath Falls. Joseph Foster had 25 points to lead Oregon Tech. Full story

Lacrosse Falls Short Against UCD

The No. 12 Raiders showed why they are a top tier Division II team on Saturday, as they battled Division 1 rival UC Davis until the final minute of the game just losing out 6-4. Outnumbered almost two to one, the Raiders showed tremendous heart and skill as they pushed the Aggies to the brink, only to come up short on a questionable time out awarded to the Aggies that gave them final possession in the last minute, allowing them to run the clock out before adding an empty net goal as SOU tried desperately to cause a turnover. Starting at No. 12 in the nation, the Raiders know they have a bull’s-eye etched into the square of their back no matter whom they square up against. That being the case, their opponent is going to be one of the more difficult tasks the Raiders have ever had as they take on Division I rival UC Davis this Saturday to start off a difficult but exciting season. The last meeting between the Raiders and the Geoducks of Evergreen State College was a bit of a disappointment as Southern Oregon lost in Olympia by 36. Determined to avenge that loss earlier in the season the Raider were unable to get the better of Evergreen falling 79-73 this past Saturday at McNeal Pavilion. Full story

Women End Home Season On Win

In the last regular home game of the season, the Southern Oregon women’s basketball recorded their third consecutive win by defeating Evergreen State 85-64 at McNeal Pavilion this past Saturday. With the win, the Raiders are now 7-8 in conference play with an 18-8 overall record this season and are sitting at sixth place in the Cascade Conference standings. Full story

Southern Oregon softball Mitchell Lofstedt broke his late father Brent Lofstedt’s single season pin record and helped the Raiders score a 43-3 victory over 10th-ranked Simon Fraser today at McNeal Pavilion. The Southern Oregon women’s basketball team displayed a brilliant overall performance as they romped to a 74-62 victory over Northwest University at McNeal Pavilion this past Friday. Despite hitting the ball well, the Southern Oregon softball team couldn’t capitalize and dropped its season-opening doubleheader at Vanguard University this past thursday. The Lions won the opener 3-1 and then held off the Raiders 3-2 in the nightcap. Full story

Mitchell Lofstedt With the SOU wrestling team having just wrapped up their record 40th winning season, it comes as no surprise that sophomore Mitchell Lofstedt has played an integral part in that achievement. After posting their best season ever last year, Southern Oregon University’s lacrosse team this year will be looking to go even further. The fith-ranked Southern Oregon wrestling team locked up its 40th-straight winning season today by going 2-1 at the Mile High Duals in Prescott, Ariz. Southern Oregon University’s starting redshirt sophomore running back Brandon Baldwin has turned out to be one of the few bright lights for the Raider football team this past season. 

Baldwin rushed for 1,181 yards with six rushing touchdowns for the Raiders.

Women's Basketball Stay Perfect Against Hawks

The Southern Oregon women’s basketball team has started this season with a bang by pulling out an overtime victory from their most recent tug-of-war match with Holy Names 82-79. 

Senior forward Jacki Speer has had her pencil in the record books since the Raiders opened their season against the same Holy Names Hawks over a week ago. Her 22 point and 28 rebound performance Saturday night marks her fourth straight double-double of the season.

In what turned out to be a thrilling season opener, the Southern Oregon University men’s basketball team managed to top Indiana East 90-85 this past Friday at the McNeal Pavillion. With the SOU Volleyball team putting on some dominating displays, it comes as no surprise that Outside Hitter Chelsea Hartman is right in the thick of things. A junior majoring in Physcology, Hartman hails from Lebanon, Ore. where she participated on her high school’s varsity basketball and volleyball teams for four years before graduating in 2005. A Junior majoring in Business Marketing and looking to minor in English, Laney has been an ever present part of SOU’s cross country team for the past three years. Born in Portland, Ore., Laney attended Central Catholic High School. Women’s Soccer Drops to Yotes

After opening Conference play with a loss, the Southern Oregon University Women’s soccer team squared off against College of Idaho this past Friday at University Field. Having every intention of walking away with full points, the Raiders instead were completely pinned back as the College of Idaho managed to out-shoot the Raiders 11-3 in the first half.

Cross Country Sweeps Invitational

The sixth-ranked Southern Oregon men’s cross country team knocked off a pair of ranked teams and scored an impressive team victory at today’s Charles Bowles Invitational in Salem. The Raiders finished with 41 points to claim the team race, while seventh-ranked Embry-Riddle was second at 49 points and fifth-ranked British Columbia finished third with 94 points.

Turnovers Cost Raiders in Loss to Linfield

A very hot and smoky day could not keep SOU fans from cheering on their beloved team as the Raiders hosted the Wildcats of Linfield in SOU’s final home game of the season. The Raiders began the game with a bang from a breakaway on the opening kick by junior wide receiver Blake Arrowsmith, starting the drive on the Wildcats’ 43 yard line.

Rampant Raiders Down Eastern

The Southern Oregon women’s soccer team snapped a two game losing streak by turning up the heat on a cold, windy Saturday afternoon at Southern Oregon University’s University field, by defeating the Eastern Oregon 4-0. The Raiders took control of the match early with a long free kick from freshman Tori Chambliss that found its way into the back of the net.
