Starting at No. 12 in the nation, the Raiders know they have a bull’s-eye etched into the square of their back no matter whom they square up against.
That being the case, their opponent is going to be one of the more difficult tasks the Raiders have ever had as they take on Division I rival UC Davis this Saturday to start off a difficult but exciting season.
The Aggies (1-0) are coming off a one goal win against UC Santa Cruz, a team the Raiders bested by 7 on the road last year.
However lots of new talent has joined the league since then, and the match up is rather unpredictable.
To prepare for the game, SOU just finished up their inter team scrimmages with the “Red” team coming out on top being lead by the first team defense.
The game is going to be a battle however with the large roster of UC Davis (40) vs. the small roster of SOU (23).
Confidence is high with the Raiders nevertheless, despite not playing a game yet this season as they look to improve on their 13-2 record from last season.
“You can only play 11 guys at the same time, so we are hoping our 11 can do it better then theirs,” said senior captain Joe Robert who will be surely dishing out some physical play that weekend.
The game will be held at the SOU Soccer fields at 1:00 PM February 13.
