Raider Women Brush Past Concordia

The Southern Oregon women’s basketball team rolled to an 80-68 victory over Concordia this past Saturday in Portland and wrapped up the No. 7 spot in next week’s Cascade Conference Postseason Tournament.

Southern Oregon finished the regular season 19-10 overall and 8-10 in conference play with the victory. The Raiders will travel to Warner Pacific Tuesday for the first round of the postseason tournament. Concordia finishes the regular season 13-15 overall and 7-11 in conference action and will open the tournament at No. 1 seed College of Idaho.

Jacki Speer had another huge night for the Raiders. The senior made 9 of 14 shots for 27 points and also pulled down seven rebounds. Emily Brookins finished with 14 points and Ashley Baker had 10 points. Junior Jamie Roupp finished with nine assists and nine rebounds to go along with four points.

Danielle Clauson led the Cavs with 22 points.

The Raiders led 37-36 at half and then began to pull away in the second half.

Brookins and Baker opened the half with back-to-back baskets for a 41-36 lead. Speer had back-to-back bucks and the Raiders were up 45-38 with 17:30 to play.

Back-to-back 3-pointers by Carly Wood gave the Raiders a double-digit lead at 54-44 at the 12:15 mark and a 3-pointer by Brookins had the Raiders up 20 at 71-51 with just over five minutes to play.

The trip to the postseason marks four straight years for the Raiders.
