After a term that started out fresh and exciting, the last few weeks have been incredibly unsettling for me, as I’ve consistently thought of my impending graduation and what that is going to mean.

In previous years, stress was not something I could handle well, but this year has taught me a few things. I don’t sweat the small things anymore.

Despite this, I placed myself in a precarious situation week after week by not doing homework or studying for important exams and my grades reflected the poor work ethic. I needed to make a change, and I did.

To my friend’s shock, I deleted my Facebook account. Well, technically I “deactivated” my account, because the social network site doesn’t let you simply delete your account. Regardless, I realized how much time I was spending on the social networking site and compared that to the work I was getting done. Facebook 1: Good Grades 0.

With an immense load of things to do right now, I needed to prioritize my life and getting rid of my account was the first big step. While my friends were surprised, they’ve been supportive of my proactive approach, but seem to really only care where they’re going to get the photographs I take as the unofficial photographer of the group.

Anyway, now that I’ve gained some focus, I plan to channel that towards my efforts in figuring out my “post-grad” life. Whether that involves, internships, entry-level work or travel – something I think about constantly – it’s up in the air. All I know is that, I’m ready for the challenge and hope I figure out what I want, where I want to go and what I want to do sooner rather than later.
