Mitchell Lofstedt With the SOU wrestling team having just wrapped up their record 40th winning season, it comes as no surprise that sophomore Mitchell Lofstedt has played an integral part in that achievement. Ranked No. 1 in the 125 pound weight class, Lofstedt is currently an English major looking to pursue a career as a musician. Full story

Domes for Haiti

Last Friday night “Domes for Haiti,” an informative music event, was held in the Britt ballroom at SOU to raise money for the recent earthquake in Haiti. The event, which featured live music, disc jockeys, and an informational presentation, was a fundraiser for Ashland based Pacific Domes and their Haiti relief project. Full story

Car sharing can cut costs

On average, car owners who drive about 10,000 miles per year spend approximately $6,000 per year on their vehicles. That’s including gas, insurance, car maintenance, and other costs to owning a car. It can be expensive, which is why the volunteer based organization Ashland Car Share has been providing it’s members access to vehicles for one sixth the cost of owning a vehicle for a year For the last three years ACS has been allowing members 24/7 access to cars that people sign up to share.

Eagle Down Raider Men

After watching Northwest University jump to a commanding 22-8 run, the Southern Oregon men’s basketball team was unable to cope with their opponents aggressive style to fall 90-82 this past Friday at McNeal Pavilion. The Raiders looked unsure, choppy, and frustrated as they seemed to lack the fluidity to keep up with the game.

“Nine”

Following the creative process of a famous Italian director in 60s Italy, Nine stars Daniel Day-Lewis as Guido Contini, a man troubled by his crumbling life and failing film career. Nine is based on the semi-autobiographical film 8 ½ by Frederico Fellini, a famous film director from Italy whose work throughout the 20th century brought him the lifetime achievement award at the 27th Cannes Film Festival in 1974.

Where is the Athletics Department at SOU headed?

For the past couple years, the majority of the athletics department at SOU has been funded through the student fee. Currently, the student fee sits at $286 per term for full time students. This is the highest student fee in all of Oregon, yet we are one of the smaller schools in Oregon.
